Software Recertification Required Before 2021

The end of the year is fast approaching, so please be advised that you may need to recertify your software to remain compliant on the V3.4.0 NEMSIS Standard. Our new policy requires recertification every two years and takes effect on January 1st, 2021. Keep in mind that if you serve customers in the State of California, they require annual recertification, and your recertification date maybe sooner.

You can find your certification date on the NEMSIS website Compliant Vendors page: Compliant Vendors

To avoid any delays in the certification process, please consider seeking recertification at your earliest convenience, since there will be limited appointments available in December due to the holiday season. If you are unsure of your need to recertify, please contact Laurel Baeder for verification.

Infectious Disease National Custom Elements – eVitals.25 Update

Click Here (updated 02/01/2021) to view a guidance document detailing these National Custom Elements and providing a description of their intended use. The latest version includes adding the value “No Touch (e.g., Infrared)” to the eVitals.25 element. The NEMSIS TAC has worked with EMS stakeholders to identify needed National Custom Elements to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. These custom elements are made available to EMS agencies and States in an effort to standardize the documentation and coding of recent travel and potential exposures related to an infectious disease, like COVID-19. The National Custom Elements may be found in the lower right-hand corner of the NEMSIS V3 Custom Element Library.

EMS by the Numbers: Impact of COVID-19

The NEMSIS TAC has prepared an updated PDF of the visualizations to the EMS By the Numbers: Impact of COVID-19 on EMS presentation.

2020 Mid-Year Public-Release Research Dataset

The 2020 Mid-Year Public-Release Research Dataset is a subset of the National EMS Database that is the repository for EMS data collected from U.S. States and Territories. NEMSIS is a national standard for how patient care information resulting from an emergency 9-1-1 call for assistance is collected. The dataset includes 19,749,812 EMS activations submitted by 10,620 EMS agencies servicing 47 states and territories. This mid-year release is provided due to overwhelming requests from researchers interested in investigating EMS response during the Spring outbreak of COVID-19. The dataset does not contain information that identifies patients, EMS agencies, receiving hospitals, or reporting states. Click for more information on how to access the dataset.
